Reception 2020 - 2021
Welcome to the Reception Class Page
We are your teachers Miss Scutt and Miss Barton. We can't wait to get to know you and learn together.
This is our class page where you will find out what we have been learning and enjoying in school. Remember to use your Tapestry account for regular updates of your child's learning achieviements. You can also follow @missscuttthebrow on facebook for updates.
This Half Term...
This half term we will be learning all about mountains, volcanoes and caves.
Our learning challenge question is...
'Where in world shall we go?'
We will be reading the following texts:
The following documents will help you understand our half term topic and give you an insight into your child's learning. Please find attached:
- Long Term Planning Overview 2020/2021
- Half Term Overview
- Weekly Timetable
- Homework List
The children will be sent home with a reading book on Monday and Friday. Please sign and comment in the reading record book each time you read with your child.
Please encourage them to share the books with you, talking about the pictures and finding key words and letter sounds in the text as they develop their reading skills. Please help your child to read and recognise the key words in the front of the reading record book. Looking for and reading signs and labels around the house and in the local area are a good way to develop reading skills.
The children will be sent their homework every Wednesday through Tapestry.
The homework tasks will have a selection of activities covering different areas of the Early Years Curriculum. We also encourage the children to log into Spelling Shed and Numbots weekly to develop their literacy and numeracy skills.
Homework evidence/observations should be uploaded to Tapestry by Monday so that they can be marked.
Please ensure they have full (named) PE kit in school every day.
Indoor PE: White t-shirt, navy shorts, black pumps.
Outdoor PE: White t-shirt, navy jogging bottoms, school hoodie and trainers.
The children will earn rewards for demonstrating positive behaviour, positive attitudes towards learning and working towards our school three school rules:
1. Be Safe
2. Be Kind
3. Be Respectful
The children will receive praise points for individual behaviours and class points for whole class efforts. When 20 class points have been awarded the children will choose their class reward. One child each week will also take home our class bear for the weekend. If excellent work or achievement has been demonstrated the children may get to visit Mrs Webb and show her their work. In addition, they may get chosen for Mrs Webb's hot chocolate morning or show their work in celebration assembly.
Miss Scutt and Miss Barton will always be watching to see who earns a place on our class 'shout out' board for excellent behaviour!
I hope you enjoyed our first half term of home learning. We learned so much about the Naughty Bus, London, transport, magnets, towns and cities and floating and sinking. Oh and don't forget our incredible art pieces based on the work of Henri Matisse. We were super busy!
This half term we will be learning about animals, thier homes and habitats. We will also be continuing to learn about maps and directions as well as learning about mountains, volcanoes and caves. We are going to carry on learning about numbers to 10 and Phonics Phase 3.
All of our learning links with our key text 'The Journey Home' by Emma Levey. This story will help us learn about what makes a family.
