Welcome to Class 3!

Miss Parr and Mrs Cresswell are delighted to be working with you all as your teacher and teaching assistant as you begin your first year in the juniors.

 

We have lots of exciting learning planned for this half term:

This half term, our core writing text is Journey by Aaron Becker. We will also be reading Tilly Mint Tales by Berlie Doherty as a supplementary text.

In Guided Reading we will be reading the Illustrated Atlas of Britain and Ireland. We will also be using the film ‘Up’ to practise our information retrieval skills.

In Maths, as part of our recovery curriculum, we will be focusing on securing the learning from our first two terms to ensure our children have a solid foundation as they progress into Class 4.

Our topic for this half term is Forces.

 We will be learning what a force is and the difference between push and pull forces. We will also be investigating how forces affect movement, and we'll be working scientifically to test our hypotheses. Additionally, we will be exploring magnets and how they work.

Our topic for this half term is Keeping Healthy.

We will be discussing why we should keep our bodies healthy and how we can do this. We will learn about how to keep our teeth healthy and what makes a healthy diet.

Class 3 have PE every Thursday afternoon. 

This half term we are developing our passing and interception skills playing Rugby.

Our topic for this half term is Ancient Mark Making. 

We will be learning about a range of ancient civilisations and how they made marks to record stories, poems, laws and other literature. We will even be trying some of these techniques ourselves.

In Music, our topic for this half term is Bringing Us Together.

We will be exploring Disco music around the theme of friendship, hope and unity. We will be developing our listening skills, improvisation skills and performance skills.

In Spanish we will continue to practise our numbers to 10 and begin to progress learning numbers to 20. We will also be learning how to say our favourite animals.

In RE this half term, we will be thinking about the question ‘What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus?’

We will be considering what qualities make a successful leader and disciple as well as learning the story of how Jesus chose his 12 disciples.

Our virtue for this half term is ‘Courtesy'.

In Computing, our topic is Connecting Computers.

We will be investigating different types of devices and how they can help us, including inputs, outputs and processes as well as networks and how they are constructed.
