Class 1 Welcome

Welcome back to Spring Term 2 in Class 1. I hope you enjoyed our first half term of home learning. We learned so much about the Lion Inside and how we can care for and respect our world.

This half term we will be learning about the material world. We will also be continuing to learn about our local area, in particualr bridges and measuring . We are going to carry on learning about numbers to 50 in maths and Phonics Phase 5

.Please check this page each half term to find out about the current learning journey, class time table and homework.

Our focus will be on the following text:

All of our home learning will be shared through our Seesaw portal.

We will also be establishing our Class 1 Google classroom where your child can join a live meeting and teaching session with Mrs Cottam and Mrs Quinn. These will be hosted at 9:15am, 10:30am and 2:15pm. This will be a good opportunity to share learning, explore teaching methods and ask questions.

Class One Organisation

Children will be introduced slowly and carefully into the school routine and we will build up to a full curriculum when children are fully settled.

PE days will continue to be each Wednesday outdoors when possible. For now, children will need to come to school wearing their P.E. kits.

Please note there will be no reading records sent home but any reading observations you have made can be recorded on SeeSaw. Also the children can access Epic online reading materials too.

The children are encouraged to drink regularly throughout the day. They may wish to bring in a labelled drinks bottle that can be filled with water. They may also wish to bring in a small healthy snack such as a piece of fruit. Fruit and bagels are provided daily.

Spring Planning

The children receive praise points for daily reading. Please ensure you bring book bags in to school each Friday.

The children will change their own books and are responsible for getting them out of their bags first thing in the morning.

Reading is so important across the school so please read with your child!

Classroom Routines

We follow our school and class rules every day

Be Safe

Be Kind

Be Respectful

Every day the teachers look out for children who are excellent role models to go up on our class shout-out board. We collect praise points and pads throughout the day and every half term we are presented with a certificate and badge for our efforts.

The children will receive praise points for individual behaviours and class points for whole class efforts. When 10 class points have been awarded the children will choose their class reward. If excellent work or achievement has been demonstrated the children may get to visit Mrs Webb and show her their work. In addition, they may get chosen for Mrs Webb's hot chocolate morning or show their work in celebration assembly.

The children will earn rewards for demonstrating positive behaviour, positive attitudes towards learning and working towards our school rules

Every morning we choose a greeter of the day to welcome the children into our room with a high five or a hug.

Our star of the day looks after the lunch and class register.

Our bagel monitor is responsible for returning the bagel box to the kitchen each morning.

We follow our school and class rules every day and Mrs Cottam looks out for children who are excellent role models to go up on our class shout out board. We collect praise points throughout the day and every half term we are presented with a certificate and badge for our efforts.
