Reading Books
The children will bring home reading books and reading records daily and we ask that the children read at least five times a week with a signed comment. Children's books will be checked on a Monday and changed in the school library on a Friday. Children can also access the Oxford Owl website to complete their reading from home. We ask that every child brings their reading books and records daily as we will try to hear the children read 1-1 in school too. The children receive praise points for their daily reading efforts.
Reading is so important across the school so please read with your child!
Spellings and Phonics
The children will be given weekly phonics and reading homework on Seesaw. These activities will be linked to our phonics work in school.
The children can also practise reading and writing phonic codes and tricky words which can be found inside the middle pages of their reading records. The children have all been provided with phonics bookmarks to practise their sounds at home.
Don't forget we also have an online subscription to Phonics Play ( login details are provided on Seesaw) and the children should aim to practise their phonics several times each week when playing the games.
Please help your child to read and find the target sounds each week.

Classroom Routines
We follow our school and class rules every day
Be Safe
Be Kind
Be Respectful
Every day the teachers look out for children who are excellent role models to go up on our class shout-out board. We collect praise points and pads throughout the day and every half term we are presented with a certificate and badge for our efforts.
The children will receive praise points for individual behaviours and class points for whole class efforts. When 10 class points have been awarded the children will choose their class reward. If excellent work or achievement has been demonstrated the children may get to visit Mrs Webb and show her their work. In addition, they may get chosen for Mrs Webb's hot chocolate morning or show their work in celebration assembly.
The children will earn rewards for demonstrating positive behaviour, positive attitudes towards learning and working towards our school rules
Every morning we choose a greeter of the day to welcome the children into our room with a high five or a hug.
Our star of the day looks after the lunch and class register.
Our bagel monitor is responsible for returning the bagel box to the kitchen each morning.
Class One Learning Songs
We love to use our voices and sing along to many different learning songs. Maybe your child can teach someone at home too.
