Class 7 2025 - 2026
Mrs Jones
Miss Murphy
Welcome to Class 7
Our KS2 Resource Base class supports a wide spectrum of learning needs, and provision is carefully tailored to ensure every child can access learning in a way that is meaningful, engaging and appropriate to their stage of development. The children access the reource base every morning and are organised into two flexible groups: Learning Leaders, following a more formal, structured learning approach, and Knowledge Seekers, learning through a sensory and continuous provision model. These groupings are responsive and reviewed regularly to ensure pupils are supported in the way that best meets their individual needs.
In the afternoon, learners integrate into their chronological mainstream class to ensure access to a broad and balanced curriculum. All teachers at The Brow are skilled at adapting lessons to suit the varying and broad needs of their class.
The class is led by a dedicated team of four staff members. Curious Minds are supported by Mrs Jones and Miss Kelly, while Learning Leaders are supported by Miss Murphy and Mrs Reese. All staff work closely together to ensure consistency, high expectations and a shared understanding of each child’s next steps in learning and development.

Children take part in regular sensory circuits to help them develop awareness of their own regulation needs and to support readiness for learning. These activities help children develop focus, body awareness and emotional regulation skills. |

Mrs Jones and Miss Kelly
Learning in our knowledge seekers group is experiential and hands-on. Children are given structured opportunities to develop:
- play skills
- social interaction
- communication and vocabulary
- independence and confidence
We use highly motivating resources and interests to inspire curiosity, encourage engagement and celebrate every child’s progress.
Term:
Texts:
We use sensory stories to support engagement, communication and understanding, helping children explore learning through movement, sound, texture, visuals and interaction. Alongside this, we use stories with sensory and predictable elements to encourage anticipation, participation, language development and enjoyment of reading.
Maths:
In mathematics, we follow a mastery approach to number. This term, children are exploring the composition of numbers through practical activities, songs, manipulatives and real-life experiences to build deep understanding. .png)

Mastering Number ![]()
We use the Mastering Number programme to develop pupils’ early number sense, fluency and confidence with number facts through daily, structured practice. Stem sentences are used consistently to support mathematical reasoning and language, helping children to articulate their thinking clearly. This supports secure foundations in mathematical understanding, enabling children to work more efficiently and with greater confidence in their wider maths learning.
Currently we are focussing on: Number Facts and Arithmetic

Chatty Toolbox
We use Chatty Toolbox alongside Blanks Levels to explicitly develop pupils’ speech, language and understanding. These approaches support children in progressing from basic vocabulary and simple responses to more complex language, reasoning and comprehension skills. This ensures pupils are able to understand, process and use language more confidently across all areas of learning.
Handwriting
During our daily handwriting sessions, we enjoy warming our hands up with dough disco. We play various fine motor skills games andy activities.

After working on different pattern and shape formation, we have now moved on to letter formation. We will be looking at the following letters...
